Housing Trends in 2016
“The Fed has raised interest rates, millennials are getting older…so what does next year’s housing market look like?”
Zillow.com’s chief economist, Svenja Gudell, reports some expected trends for 2016’s housing market in this Time article. She has taken the information we learned this year and makes some educated speculations on what will be happening. The Federal reserve raising interest rates and Millennials making their way into the market have been major influences for Gudell’s estimations.
Ultimately, we are optimistic despite a few expected hurdles for the housing market of 2016. Gudell suggests that Seattle, and by extension the Greater Seattle Area, will be a hot market this year.
2016 Home Decor Trends
According to Consumer Affairs, “farmhouse chic” is being replaced in 2016 with a modern, artistic trend. A quote from Kerrie Kelly (Zillow Digs home design expert) used in the article states that “[this year] will being a fresh modern vibe that beautifully mixes simplicity with bold accents reminiscent of the roaring ‘20s.”
The new year is going to bring in geometric shapes and honeycomb patterns, softer area rugs in neutral hues, and a rise in one-of-a-kind, antique items. The article listed adds some more details to 2016’s new trends – be sure to catch up on them!
